The Partners

The eShark project is conducted by an industry-led consortium, which includes the following partners:

PPG WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLD
PPG (www.ppgpmc.com) is a world leader in the development and commercialization of heavy-duty coatings aimed at protecting steel and concrete objects in marine environments. These include static objects (steel structures for bridges, storage tanks, wind turbines, power plants, etc.) as well as dynamic objects (commercial vessels). Among other things, PPG is a leading producer of fouling protection products, and has a wide distribution network in Europe and throughout the world. In the eShark project PPG is responsible for producing the fouling release system, which is based on premium 100% silicone binder technology.

We protect and beautify the world is a trademark and the PPG Logo is a registered trademark of PPG Industries Ohio, Inc.

Mactac
Mactac (www.mactacgraphics.eu/en/market-segment/market-segments/anti-fouling-hull-protection) is a global company active in the fields of graphic and decoration, the self-adhesive film and label industry, and fixing and mounting solutions in several industries, with high level in-house manufacturing capacities. Mactac produces film-based coatings (silicone coating, adhesive coating, and printable top coatings) for various industries. In the eShark project Mactac is responsible for the self-adhesive film specially designed for underwater use.

HSVA
Hamburgische Schiffbau Versuchsanstalt / the Hamburg Ship Model Basin or HSVA (www.hsva.biz) is a private, self-supporting, non-profit organization providing research and consultancy services to the maritime industry. HSVA has developed an intricate understanding of all problems in ship and offshore hydrodynamics. It has sophisticated experimental research facilities and offers a large range of experimental investigations. As part of the eShark project, HSVA will conduct various tests aimed at optimizing the surface morphology of the fouling release foil and at enhancing its drag reduction properties.

ND Coatings
ND Coatings (www.nd-coatings.de) is a German marine services company active in the field of corrosion protection, surface treatment and insulation for commercial ships. Established in Papenburg (Lower Saxony), ND Coatings works primarily with Meyer Werft (www.meyerwerft.de), one of the major German shipyards, and a leading builder of luxury passenger ships. With regards to Horizon 2020, Meyer Werft and ND Coatings are ‘affiliated entities’ as they are under the same ownership (the Meyer family). As part of the eShark project ND Coatings will act as beneficiary of the requested funding, and will apply the fouling release film on the hull of a new cruise ship built in by Meyer Werft, which will work with ND Coatings as a 'linked third party'.

Vertidrive
VertiBlast BV - operating under the trade name VertiDrive (www.vertidrive.nl) is an innovative company designing safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective robotic solutions. Its client base extends across many industries, such as shipping, green/wind energy generation, on- and offshore industry and the petrochemical industry. As part of the eShark project VertiDrive will design and build the existing fouling release foil laminator prototype into a robot capable of moving along ship hulls in shipyards.
